The way we consume media has become much less intentional with the proliferation of continuously refreshing newsfeeds and the like. The way we consume entertainment has lost value and is perpetuated by the same neural paths that drive other addictive behaviors like gambling or drug-use. Entertainment has become more mindless and less valuable. The actual term "entertainment" has two parts: "enjoyment" and "reflection". How can we correct this balance? How can we return entertainment to its esteemed position as a way to collectively engage with topics and create deeper resonance? I personally have been disconnecting myself from modern social, news, and film media both consciously and unconsciously because I can't find value in them + Where have you found valuable forms of entertainment that brings you joy and deeper reflection? + How can we promote this kind of content? + Can it be made mainstream?
